Live Incubator opens a 2027 place for an Austrian solo artist
Waves Vienna joins a programme combining showcases with work on access, mental health and independent live-music infrastructure.
Solo artists aged 18–30 from Austria can apply for Live Incubator 2027 until 9 November at 12:00 CET. The programme selects one artist each from Austria, Denmark and Norway. Waves Vienna announced the call on 19 October.
Participants will work with emerging music professionals and the directors of Waves Vienna, SPOT Festival and Trondheim Calling. Their task is to develop and test a practical project addressing challenges in live music, then present it to the industry in Vienna. The organisers name access, representation, mental health and the future of independent venues among the subjects.
The course runs from January to November 2027, with festival camps and online sessions in English. The selected artists also receive showcases at all three festivals; travel, accommodation and conference access are covered.
For Austria’s scene, the opportunity combines stage time with a role in shaping the structures around live performance. SCENE:ID sees that combination as its local significance: the Austrian participant would help develop a project, rather than simply join an overseas festival bill. Selection and project outcomes are still ahead.
